Jubilee Initiative Hosts Vigil to Honor Florida Shooting Victims

A group of Syracuse residents are saying thoughts and prayers are not enough in the wake of last week’s Florida school shooting. The top-seeded Orange(14-3) continues its quest for its 12th NCAA championship on Saturday, May 18 when it meets Ivy League champion Yale (12-4) at 3 p.m. at Byrd Stadium in Maryland in the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Tournament. 

Based on a childhood fascination with his grandfather’s player piano, 20-time Grammy Award winner Pat Metheny took his musical exploration to a new territory and built The Orchestrion, a mechanically controlled mini-orchestra capable of responding to his touch on the guitar. This innovative project brought about a completely unique approach to solo performance. The collaboration between this master guitarist and his wildest imagination has resulted in a fascinating and absolutely one of a kind musical experience.

SU Lacrosse Advances to the Quarter Finals

SU Lacrosse got past Bryant, 12-7, in the NCAA Opening Round Sunday night inside the Carrier Dome. Dylan Donahue led the Orange with 3 goals, while Kevin Rice added 2 goals to go along with 2 assists. Tewaaraton finalist JoJo Marasco paced the midfield with a pair of goals as well.

Monday starts Salvation Army week nationwide...and here in Syracuse it means recognizing an agency that’s been here for 130 years.  Here's some of the history and the modern makeup of the organization.

Jazz is one of those music genres that divides listeners into 3 basic categories: enthusiasts, acceptors, and avoiders.  Enthusiasts are those that are passionate about the music and it's history.  Acceptors might not necessarily know what they are listening to but often enjoy and accept what they are hearing.  Avoiders...well they need no definition.  The latest incarnation of the Bill Horrace and Dave Solazzo Experience attempts to bridge some gaps between enthusiast and acceptor and perhaps snag an avoider or two.
