OCC Program Enjoys Success Starting Medical Careers

Students in Surgical Technician Program get hands-on training that helped all members of the last class pass national certification.

  Onondaga Community College’s Surgical Technician Program is receiving a lot of attention after recent graduates earned high scores on the national certification exam. The 10 month program at OCC is a crash-course in physiology and surgical procedure, where students learn the skills needed to assist surgeons and nurses during surgeries.

Maffei Announces Plan to Improve Education

Representative Dan Maffei has joined the discussion on education reform by releasing his new plan for strengthening education in Central New York. Also in attendance were local education leaders including the Syracuse Teachers Association President, a transfer counselor from Cayuga Community College and the Vice President of the Syracuse University Student Association.

Science Teaching Doesn't Have to be Dry as CNY Students Learn Through Music

ESM Middle School students dumped applesauce on a teacher's head, all in the name of science during the FMA Live (Force equals Mass times Acceleration) performance.

A program put together by NASA and Honeywell is trying to get middle and high school students in Central New York more interested in science.  Sixth graders at Pine Grove Middle School in Eastwood got the message Wednesday.
