Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner is joining forces with local Women’s Rights and Health supporters to call on the State Legislature to pass the Women’s Equality Act.  The Mayor gathered with advocates today at the Harriett-May-Mills House in Syracuse to help push the bill along before the legislative session ends.

Juneteenth Cultural Celebration in Syracuse is This Weekend

From its small beginnings at the South West Community Center, the Annual Syracuse Juneteenth Festival this weekend is estimated to attract a record 25-thousand people this year.


The event marks the date of the emancipation of a quarter million slaves in Galveston, Texas in 1865.  At Friday’s flag raising ceremony, Juneteenth committee board member Gale Barnes addressed the diverse significance of the festival.

Syracuse Downtown Farmers' Market Opens

Fresh produce at Downtown Syracuse's Farmers' Market.

A rainy start to the Downtown Syracuse Farmers’ Market today didn’t keep it from opening with a splash.  Workers stopped by on their lunch breaks to enjoy the fresh produce and baked goods, and left with items to take home.  The weekly event featured dozens of vendors selling fruits, vegetables, wine, baked goods, dairy products and decorative plants.
