 WAER seeks an announcer with a quality NPR styled voice and delivery who is passionate about public radio to hosts local and national programs, deliver on-air news, write conversational style copy for news casts, anchor live news, produce audio content for air, web and other digital platforms, coordinate interviews, perform all aspects of live or automated daily on-air operations including board operation. Assist with developing student announcing skills and studio operations.

Qualifications:  4 year degree or equivalent combination of education and broadcast experience, 1-5 years of radio announcing experience or news magazine hosting experience. Job specific skills include radio announcing skills including fluid delivery of written content; knowledge of broadcast equipment, digital audio editing software, computer automation software.

Duties and responsibilities: Host and operate the control board for programs Here and Now and All Things Considered, incorporating a daily local presence during national programs.

Assist with production needs of daily national promos along with assistance related to in house produced Podcasts. Assisting with special programming when needed.

Work with the Content and Operations Manager to incorporate a local presence on various platforms including, Social Media, NPR One, WAER.org.

Train students in both news hosting and music, including the proper engineering and board-operator techniques as well as help them develop their on-air sound.

Work with the news department to setup story interviews, write news readers for broadcast, and occasionally cover a story in the field.
