WAER Content and Operations Manager
Syracuse University public radio, WAER FM, seeks an experienced content and operations manager to oversee the quality and delivery of station programs, on-air staff performance, and operations systems for FM and HD broadcasts.
As a member of the leadership team, the Content and Operations Manager assists with setting strategic programming and audience growth strategies.
Job duties – Content and management: regular monitoring and evaluating of program performance; evaluation and feedback of on-air staff performance; content selection; operations and programming support for fundraising efforts; supervisory oversight of broadcast engineer and announcers; training and support for student broadcast performance and production.
Job duties – Technical operations – Plan, develop, and maintain technical infrastructure; manage critical systems including program automation for one FM and two supplemental HD channels, master control systems, and radio transmission; provide 24 hour emergency support of content delivery; plan and evaluate software needs; provide equipment training and support for staff and students.
Job duties – Other – Evaluate broadcast schedule for effectiveness; evaluate research data and audience listening trends; oversee regulatory compliance relating to corporate underwriting messages, public file, and Digital Copyright Act. Report music licensing information to performing rights organizations.
Requirements – Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years public radio experience in content management and operations, production and editing skills including Adobe Audition, people management experience, radio traffic software, Core Publisher or other web-based content management system, understanding of radio research data, Content Depot, and Composer schedule and playlist management system.
