Destiny USA Celebrates First Anniversary Under New Name

Destiny USA offers cookie cake to celebrate its 1st anniversary.

Destiny USA’s expanded shopping mall celebrates the first anniversary today of officially changing its name from the “Carousel Center.”  Since the transformation, General Manager Rob Schoeneck believes it’s led to an increase in business that has helped the greater community.

CNY Students Get Glimpse of Careers From STEM Subjects

Central New York High School students visited a National Grid plant Thursday to get a look at careers that could come from a STEM education.  It was part of a week-long Onondaga Community College science workshop.


The summer STEM program offered by O-C-C encourages kids to pursue a tech career by developing their science, technology, engineering, and math skills.  National Grid Manager and Instructor Wally Dengos says that the biggest goal is to have kids “learn how to learn”.

Symphoria Hires New Managing Director

Catherine Underhill will serve as Symphoria's Managing Director.

Symphonic music fans in Central New York will see a new Managing Director at the helm of Symphoria in about a month. 

The organization hired Catherine Underhill, who’s been Executive Director of the Colorado Music Festival and Center for Musical Arts for the past 11 years.  Underhill, who has 30 years of arts organization management after a Harvard degree in public administration, starts September 1, 2013.

Governor Cuomo says it’s now up to the voters to decide whether they want to expand gambling in New York State. He’s signed into law a plan build casinos upstate, but the public must approve a change in the state’s constitution in order for it to move forward.
