While people often participate at inside events; getting them to stay outside for events can be a challenge.

Onondaga County's Deadly Flu Season Still Might Have Weeks to Go

Miner Against Tax Incentives for Hotel at Destiny USA

Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner said Wednesday she does not support any tax breaks for the proposed Destiny USA hotel.   Developers sent a letter to the mayor and County Executive Joanie Mahoney last week expressing their intentions to build a $75 million, 252-room hotel on a parking lot across Hiawatha Boulevard.  Miner said that, given the history Pyramid Development has in the area, any hotel construction at Destiny USA should be privately financed, without added incentives from Onondaga County:

Philip Seymour Hoffman Death Could Point to RX Drug Abuse Link to Heroin

Prescription Drug Abuse remains problem in New York, despite new laws.

The death of Actor Philip Seymour Hoffman in New York points to a possible link between heroin use and prescription drug abuse.  Hoffman’s cause of death has not been confirmed but authorities say both heroin and prescription painkillers were found with his body.
