Senator Schumer Calls for Federal Changes to Get Prescription Drugs Off Streets

Senator Charles Schumer was in Central New York to announce that he’s going to put pressure on federal drug officials to fight prescription drug abuse by making it easier to get medications out of reach.  He says federal regulations are hurting efforts to curb skyrocketing incidents of prescription drug abuse.

Neighborhood safety was the hot topic at the second annual Neighborhood Action Conference held at Fowler High School this past weekend.  Some residents feel fighting crime isn’t rocket science; it’s a matter of starting out small with the family and the neighborhood at the center.

SU Crushed By Georgia Tech 56-0

ATLANTA, GA - Syracuse (3-4, 1-2) was throttled 56-0 to Georgia Tech (4-3, 3-2) at Bobby Dodd Stadium in Atlanta on Saturday. The Orange offense struggled to get off the ground, amassing just 75 total rushing yards and 133 passing yards. SU head coach Scott Shafer was most frustrated with his team's inability to stay disciplined.

"Too many penalties today," coach Shafer said, in reference to his team's nine infractions for 91 yards. "We need to mature quickly as a team, but it starts with me."
