Syracuse's Boeheim Against Paying College Athletes

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) -- Syracuse basketball coach Jim Boeheim isn't on board with paying college athletes. Speaking Wednesday in Syracuse at an annual Associated Press meeting of New York newspaper editors, Boeheim said he's heard the most recent talk about paying college athletes and calls it ''the most idiotic suggestion of all time.'' Boeheim took exception with retired NBA star Chris Webber's complaint he received nothing after his team shirt was sold.

SU Welcomes Clemson To Dome

This weekend marks the first ACC game for SU football as the Orange welcomes #3 Clemson to the Carrier Dome this Saturday. Syracuse comes into the game carrying a two game win streak and coming off its bye week. Meanwhile, the Tigers come into the game undefeated and most recently torching Wake Forest 56-7.

But even though Head Coach Scott Shafer knows Clemson has the higher rated team, he believes Syracuse has what it takes to pull the upset if the fan base rallies behind the team,.

10th Annual Film Festival Takes Over Downtown Theatres

Film buffs  have a local opportunity to watch films and meet various Hollywood personalities at the Syracuse International Film Festival, which started yesterday. It’s the festival’s 10th anniversary, and those in attendance will notice there are fewer films this year.

Festival producer Christine Fawcett-Shapiro says that the venues in downtown Syracuse and at universities in the area were intentionally chosen for the year’s showings, as were the film selections:

New York AG Sues Wells Fargo, Gains Agreement with B of A over Mortgage Modifications
