Syracuse Mayoral Candidates Trying to Spur Primary Turnout

Primary Election Day, September 10th. Polls open at 12:00 noon.

As Tuesday's Democratic Primary looms, the campaigns of three candidates for the Syracuse Mayoral Race were busy trying to get their word out today.  In addition to fulfilling his duties as City Councilor, Pat Hogan planned on attending a rally today on a key campaign topic.

“Syracuse Firefighters have a rally at station house seven which was closed by the mayor and then there will be a kick-off rally basically to try and take back the city and put the city in a new direction starting tomorrow.”

Golden Harvest Festival Draws a Crowd to Beaver Lake

This past weekend kicked off the fall festival season here in Central New York with the annual Golden Harvest Festival at Beaver Lake Nature Center. The festival attracted crowds to Baldwinsville all weekend, despite the rain that lasted through Saturday afternoon.


Artist Thomas Lenweaver sold his paintings and prints at the event. He says that the crowds are an indication of the park’s support base.

Northwestern Beats Syracuse 48-27

Evanston, Ill. - #19 Northwestern (2-0) crushed Syracuse (0-2) 48-27 at Ryan Field Saturday. The Orange has dropped both games this season to two Big Ten teams, Penn State and Northwestern. The Scott Shafer era has not gotten off to a great start and the first year head coach is taking full responsibility.

“We didn't play well in this game, and it starts with me.” Shafer said following the loss. “I have to fix these mistakes for next week,” the Coach continued.

SUNY-ESF Debuts Uniquely Powered Gateway Building

SUNY E-S-F is getting closer to its goal to achieving carbon neutrality by 2015.  A ribbon cutting was held Friday to officially dedicate the college’s newest building. 


The Gateway Center has a three million dollar combined heat and electric system powered by biomass and natural gas.  Executive Director of Energy and Sustainability Michael Kelleher explains the process once the wood pellets are loaded.
