Orange Hoops Wins 3rd Maui Title

Maui, HI - The Syracuse Orange (7-0) defeated the Baylor Bears (6-1) 74-67 in the championship game of the EA Sports Maui Invitational at the Lahaina Civic Center Wednesday night. Senior C.J. Fair was named the Tournament Most Valuable Player. In the title game versus #18 Baylor, Fair had 24 points and three steals.

Chittenango Man Stopped With Loaded Gun at Hancock Airport

A Madison County man made things a little more complicated for security officials at Syracuse's Hancock Airport Wednesday morning by trying to board a plane with a loaded handgun.  A Transportation Security Officer stopped the man after noticing the semi-automatic weapon in his carry on bag as it passed through the X-ray machine.  TSA contacted Syracuse Police, who confiscated the weapon.  Officials say there was no impact on airport operations during the busiest travel day of the year.

SU Basketball One Win From Maui Title

Maui, HI -  Syracuse (6-0) remains undefeated all-time in the Maui Invitational (8-0) with a 92-81 win over California (5-1) on Tuesday afternoon at the Lahaina Civic Center. The #8 Orange moves on to the Championship game of the Tournament where it will take on 6-0 #18 Baylor. The Bears have knocked off host school Chaminade and came from behind to beat Dayton on Tuesday to advance to the finals.

The Orange Advance In Maui 92-81 Over Cal

Tyler Ennis scores 28 points to lead the No 8 Orange past Cal in the Maui Invitational 92-81.  Syracuse pulled away in the second half scoring 51 of its 92 points.  The team shot 55% from the field and hit 5 of 7 three-pointers.

The Orange benefited from balanced scoring as Trevor Cooney scored 23 points while C.J. Fair and Jerami Grant finished with 14 and 19 respectively.  Next up for the Orange is the winner of Baylor and Dayton.  You can catch all the action on 88.3 FM WAER.
