I have had the pleasure of being a part of WAER going back to my days as a student at Syracuse in the early 1990s. I began working in the sports department eventually getting a chance to call SU basketball and football games. However...my other passion of music came into play when I became the Music Director shortly after graduating in May of 1993. I have been privileged to host the afternoon jazz program from 12-4 since the summer of 1993 interviewing some of the biggest names in jazz along the way. Getting a chance to meet many of my listeners along the way has been a true joy.
My musical tastes (besides jazz) cover many genres from indie rock, to some old school Sam Cooke, to admittedly being a huge 80s music fan. I'm also a sports ennthusiast ranking the New York Mets and the St. Louis Rams as the teams I rout for the hardest. Weather wise...I'm definitely a warm weather person and the summer season here in Central New York can be downright beautiful. Visiting some of the great cities in Europe and one day writing a screenplay are two things that are definitely on my bucket list.
Eric Cohen brings you the finest in jazz every weekday evening. The masters of the past such as Count Basie, Lee Morgan, Sarah Vaughan and Cannnoball Adderley to the modern day innovators of this art form like Gregory Porter, Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band, Stacey Kent, and Cyrus Chestnut. The night time is the right time for the sounds of jazz Monday thru Friday from 8-11 on 88.3 FM or via WAER.org's live stream.
