I was born and raised in Syracuse and always thought that someday I’d "escape" upstate New York winters, but after meeting my future husband literally in my own back yard, I ended up firmly planting roots in CNY. The level of revitalization that has taken place over the last 15 years has really transformed the area. I especially love running into people who high tailed it out of CNY for greener pastures – I always laugh and say, "I knew you'd be back!"
Having earned a degree in Interior/Environmental Design, life pretty much got in the way of my dreams to design houseboats when I began advising A&S undergraduates at Syracuse University. After 10 years, I left the university to become the first female sales person in a 50+ year old Syracuse based company. Wanting to build on that sales experience fueled with the desire to make a difference, I tossed my hat in the WAER development arena and became the station’s Director of Corporate Development. That was in 2002 and I have been here ever since. I work diligently with clients, developing impactful media plans to accomplish their strategic goals. The love for WAER I share with so many in our community allows me to do what I do. I take great pride in developing and maintaining collaborative client relationships and continue to develop close friendships with many I’ve been fortunate to work with. In the months and years to come, I will also be responsible for overseeing efforts to capitalize on the station’s rapidly expanding digital and mobile offerings, further making WAER a multi-media marketing outlet for CNY businesses. I will forever appreciate the close interaction and cultural awareness WAER/public radio provides - locally, nationally and globally. "Now more than ever it's important to feel connected and public radio provides this in a wonderfully credible way - it's truly democracy at work!"
Along with my husband Ed, son, Matthew (5) and stepdaughter Rachel, I also try to find time to enjoy dinner with friends, camping and hiking, cycle classes at the East Area Y, gardening, stained glass projects, and things to do around the house.
