John Smith
Host, Reporter, ProducerJohn Smith has been waking up WAER listeners for a long time as our Local Co-Host of Morning Edition with timely news and information, working alongside student Sportscasters from the Newhouse School. He is an accomplished reporter with a natural knack of unique storytelling and ease behind the mic but, he considers his biggest accomplishment to be mentoring countless Broadcast Digital Journalism students and then seeing them excel in their careers. You may remember him as a radio personality on other radio stations ("Captain John") or even heard his voiceovers on radio and TV. John is a proud graduate of C-NS High School, Onondaga Community College, and St. John Fisher College in Rochester, NY. He largely attributes his success in life to having very supportive parents and a very special brother. John is also grateful for all of the friendships he's made over the years at Syracuse University.
