Getting Around: Be Prepared for Delays and Detours Caused by Construction, Events

Orange barrels, lane closures, and detours are just about everywhere you go in and around Syracuse.  Here's the latest list from the  the City of Syracuse for the week of June 2 through June 8.

Erie Boulevard West Bridge over Onondaga Creek. This City project requires a full closure of Erie Boulevard West between Plum Street and Franklin Street. The West Street ramp up to Erie Boulevard West will remain open. The detour will be as described: Eastbound from Erie Boulevard: south to West Street via ramp, east on Fayette Street, north on Salina Street, west on Genesee Street, south on Clinton Street, west to Erie Blvd. Westbound from Erie Blvd: south on Franklin Street, west on Washington Street, north on West Street, ramp to Erie Boulevard.

Connective Corridor on West Fayette Street. This City of Syracuse project will detour westbound traffic on Fayette Street at South Salina Street; north to Washington Street, west to Franklin Street, south to Walton Street and continue to West Fayette Street. Eastbound traffic will be maintained throughout.

Connective Corridor Project East. This project will detour westbound traffic on East Genesee Street between Almond Street and McBride Street. Westbound traffic will be detoured at Almond St. south to Harrison St, west to State St. and north back to East Genesee St intersection. Eastbound traffic will be maintained throughout.

Connective Corridor Project East II. This project will detour westbound traffic on East Genesee Street between Townsend Street and State Street. Westbound traffic will be detoured at Townsend St. north to Fayette St., west to State St. and south back to East Genesee St intersection. Eastbound traffic will be maintained throughout.

Erie Boulevard East. This City led project will include lane reductions on Erie Boulevard. East between Beech St. and Teall Ave.

West Street. This City led project will include lane reductions on West Street between W. Fayette St. and W. Onondaga St.

East Fayette Street between Westmoreland Avenue and Genesee Park Drive. This City led project will include street closures by block. Traffic will be detoured around the block.

Taste of Syracuse and Paige’s Butterfly Run. The Taste of Syracuse returns to the Clinton Square area on Friday, June 6, and Saturday, June 7.   Paige’s Butterfly Run returns on Saturday, June 7. In order to allow for the safe set-up, presentation, and breakdown of this event, the following streets will be closed according to the schedule noted:

  • Taste of Syracuse:

 

  • 100 block of West Water Street, between South Salina and Clinton Streets: from 5 a.m. on Wednesday, June 4, through mid-afternoon on Sunday, June 8.   No overnight parking on this block of West Water Street. 

 

  • Erie Boulevard West, between Clinton and Franklin Streets:  from 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 4,    through mid-afternoon on Sunday, June 8.

 

  • Clinton Street, from Genesee to Washington Streets:  from 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 4, through mid-afternoon on Sunday, June 8.

 

  • 200 block of West Water Street, between Clinton and Franklin Streets: from 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 4, through mid-afternoon on Sunday, June 8.   No overnight parking on this block of West Water Street. 

 

  • Franklin Street, from Erie Boulevard West to Washington Street:  from 6 a.m. on Friday, June 6, through mid-afternoon on Sunday, June 8.

 

  • 300 block of West Water Street, from Franklin Street to the West Street Arterial:  from 10 a.m. on Friday, June 6, through mid-afternoon on Sunday, June 8.
  • Paige’s Butterfly Run (June 7)
    • Franklin Street, between Erie Blvd. West and West Genesee Street, will be closed from 5:30 a.m. until noon on Sat., June 7.  
    • Motorists can expect intermittent traffic delays between 9 and 11 a.m. that day on the following stretches of roads:
  • Franklin Street, north to Solar Street
  • Van Rensselaer, from Erie Boulevard to Spencer Street
  • Spencer Street from Van Rensselaer  Street to Maltbie Street
  • Park Avenue, from Geddes to Plum Street
  • Plum Street from the Creekwalk to Franklin Street
  • Franklin Street, from Plum Street to Evans Street
  • Evans Street, from Franklin Street to Leavenworth Avenue
  • Leavenworth Avenue, from Evans Street to Park Avenue
  • Tracy Street, from Plum to Van Rensselaer Street
  • Wilkinson Street, from Plum to Van Rensselaer Street
