SU Lacrosse Advances to Title Game

Despite trailing for the seemingly the entire game, the top-seeded Syracuse lacrosse team came back from behind to defeat #4 Denver 9-8 in the Final Four to advance to its 17th National Championship game in school history. The Orange now takes on seventh-seeded Duke on Memorial Day Monday at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia at 1 PM.

Derek Maltz scored the game winning goal with 19.2 seconds left to seal it for the 'Cuse. Malt's goal capped a furious rally that saw the Orange tally five of the game's last six goals to overcome a 7-4 deficit entering the fourth quarter.

Senior JoJo Marasco led the Orange offense with five points, 2 goals and 3 assists. Fellow 1st-line midfielder and senior Luke Cometti recorded his third hat trick of the season, finishing with a team-best three goals goals, including the game-tying goal with 59 seconds left in the game. SU goalie Dominic Lamolinara notched 8 saves in the game, including 6 in the 2nd half.

For the Title Game, the Orange and Blue Devils tangle at 1 PM. WAER's coverage begins with a special hour-long Countdown to Face-off prior to the game, starting at noon. Then, Syracuse vies for its 12th national championship at 1 PM only on 88.3 FM.
