The Syracuse University men’s basketball team beat Southern New Hampshire University 84-54 in their first exhibition of the season.

Frank Howard kicked off the scoring for the Orange, making a 3-point shot just two minutes after the opening whistle.

After a slow offensive start, the game was all Syracuse. In the first half, the Orange went on a 22-0 run, led by sophomore Tyus Battle, who scored 10 points in that time.

Syracuse’s interior defense also made a major impact. Freshman Bourama Sidibe had 5 blocks in the first half, playing a huge defensive role to push Syracuse to a 41-21 lead going into halftime.

The Orange continued their offensive domination in the second half. Four Syracuse players finished the game in double figures. Tyus Battle led the way with 20 points on 6 for 13 shooting. Freshman Oshae Brissett contributed 17 points.

Both Bourama Sidibe and Paschal Chukwu finished the game with 6 blocks each.

The Orange play their next exhibition against Southern Connecticut State University on Monday November 6th in the Carrier Dome.
