Syracuse (15-8, 4-6) will look to rebound after suffering a tough loss to Virginia when they take on the Louisville Cardinals (16-7, 6-4) at the KFC Yum! Center on Monday, February 5 at 7:00 p.m.
The Cardinals will be looking for their fourth consecutive series win against a struggling Orange team that just recorded their lowest scoring in program history at the Carrier Dome when they could tally only 44 points against Virginia.
Bench play and a lack of depth are still a concern for Syracuse. Virginia’s bench outscored the Orange’s 27-0, and Syracuse had three players play all 40 minutes of the game. This along with a struggling offense that shot 17-of-51 from the field on Saturday, Syracuse has had trouble finding consistent success in ACC play.
Sophomore guard Tyus Battle led Syracuse in scoring, finishing with 15 points. Junior Frank Howard was the only other Orange player to finish in double figures with 11 points.
SU versus Louisville starts at 7:00. Countdown to Tipoff begins at 6:30, only on 88.3 FM WAER.
Louisville is coming off a loss of their own, after falling 80-76 on Saturday against Florida State. The Cardinals shot 36 percent in the second half and missed crucial free throws that could’ve given them the late advantage, but they weren’t able to pull it out.
The Orange will have to contest with Louisville’s dynamic forward Deng Adel, who is coming off a 19 point, eight rebound performance.
Syracuse will have to score more consistently if they look to take down this tough ACC rival.
