The sixth-ranked Orange (6-3; 3-0) take on another top opponent in the eleventh-ranked Big Red (7-3; 3-1) when Syracuse travels to Ithaca to take on Cornell tonight. Syracuse is looking to extend its three-game win streak.

The Orange looks to continue the hot streak it’s been on when it faces the Big Red. Syracuse clinched the No. 1 seed in the ACC Tournament, with the Duke Blue Devils being the only other team to possibly share the regular season title. It is the second-straight season that SU has grabbed the No. 1 seed in the Tournament.

Syracuse rolled past Hobart to hoist the Kraus-Simmons Trophy once again last week. Stephen Rehfuss powered then No. 8 Syracuse past Hobart 11-4 on Tuesday night. The redshirt sophomore totaled five points on the day.

Cornell is coming off a 15-11 victory over previously-unbeaten Harvard. The Big Red’s fourth win in a row moved it into second place in the Ancient Eight standings while the Crimson dropped in the rankings. Sophomore attackman Jeff Teat was virtually unstoppable, setting a career high with eight assists and matching a personal record with 12 points on the day.

Last Time Syracuse Faced Cornell:

Syracuse took on Cornell in the Carrier Dome last season, with five different players scoring in the 15-8 win. Stephen Rehfuss, Nate Solomon, Bardley Voigt, Matt Lane and Jamie Trimbolli all found the back of the net in last season’s victory.

Syracuse has won four out of the last five matchups against Cornell, despite dropping the 2016 matchup 10-9 in overtime.

Player To Watch:

While Syracuse’s offense seemed to have found its stride, it’s the defense that has been shining. The defense has allowed just 10 total goals in its last two games, both against top-ten teams.

It is goalkeeper Dom Madonna who has been on fire. The redshirt senior earned the U.S. Lacrosse National Player of the week last week. He was also named ACC Defensive Player of the Week after holding No. 6 Notre Dame to just six goals on the day. Madonna is currently averaging just under 10 saves per game, good enough for second in the ACC.
