You Never Know Who You Might Bump into at the New York State Fair

John Smith/WAER News

As traffic jams galore on Interstate-690 and Hiawatha Boulevard had  Jason Aldean  fans jittery to make the sold out Grandstand concert on time, Senator Chuck Schumer made sure he arrived early. His 'flesh pressing' mission is to shake 10,000 fairgoers hands !

If you've never shaken his hand, he has a REALLY firm one! So, he can really handle the mission he came up with ! And he plans to do it all at the State Fair. Fairgoers packed in along Chevy Court near the Dinosaur Barbeque are a bit startled to see their US Senator as they're about to get in line for dinner or make their way to the Aldean show.  Schumer is diligently listening to their simple hello back, some concerns and suggestions. Hear from the Senator about his State Fair experience Monday on NPR's Morning Edition from 5-9 AM.

John Smith has been waking up WAER listeners for a long time as our Local Co-Host of Morning Edition with timely news and information, working alongside student Sportscasters from the Newhouse School.
