AARP Asking for More Support for Family Caregivers

AARP members gathered in Liverpool to advocate for more home caregiver support

AARP is lobbying for support for New Yorkers who spend a lot of time caring for the elderly in their homes, following a 2013 report on New York state elderly care.  The report finds that four million unpaid family caregivers are struggling to balance their jobs with helping elderly family members.

New York One of Worst States (48th) in Supporting Caregivers of the Elderly

AARP and other groups release report and recommendations on problems facing family and other non-paid caregivers.

  More than half the people over 50 in Onondaga County might soon be spending as much as a full-time job caring for sick or invalid relatives.  Elderly advocate groups released a study Tuesday that shows caregivers are in crisis.
