Onondaga County Health Commissioner to Resign

County Health Commissioner Dr. Cynthia Morrow addresses the media Thursday.

Onondaga County Health Commissioner Dr. Cynthia Morrow says she’s never been more passionate about public health…which could be why she’s decided to resign. 

 She told the media Thursday she strongly disagrees with plans to move the division of child and maternal health from her department to the new department of child and family services.

Onondaga County's Deadly Flu Season Still Might Have Weeks to Go

Onondaga County can't seem to shake the flu.

Flu Cases have been on the Rise for Nine Straight weeks in Onondaga County and the County Health Commissioner wonders if we’ll reach the mark this week.  Doctor Cynthia Morrow updated the County Legislature’s Health Committee Thursday morning.

Onondaga County is Prepared to Fight Mosquitoes

A group of Onondaga County lawmakers today got an update on the health department’s mosquito control program.  We reported on Wednesday that there are likely to be more mosquitoes as a result of the wet weather, but not necessarily more disease.  Still, Health Commissioner Doctor Cynthia Morrow says West Nile virus and Triple-E are a part of the region’s ecology, and they’re trying to control it.
