Syracuse Looks to Capitalize on NCAA Tournament Bid

Mar 14, 2018

The party is over. Now it’s time to dance.

Syracuse men’s basketball looks to make the most of its controversial NCAA tournament bid when the team takes on Arizona State Wednesday night.

Both teams are No. 11 seeds, having made the tournament as at-large bids. These spots are given to the strongest teams who did not earn a bid by either winning their conference during the regular season, or by winning their conference’s tournament at the end of the season.

The NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament has it's 68 teams with play set to tip off this week. The lead up to this point; as it is every year, was quite the confusing journey. To help us better understand how the selection process works we enroll in bracketology 101 with WAER's Drew Carter.

Also this week, JD Raucci has part two of the series Like Father, Like Son, highlighting father son duos with a presence on this years SU Men's Lacrosse team.

Just three days after falling to No. 10 UNC in the Carrier Dome, Syracuse (18-11, 7-9) lost their second in a row in a vicious back-to-back. The No. 5 Duke Blue Devils (24-5, 12-4) took care of the Orange 60-44 in Cameron Indoor Stadium on Saturday for their fifth straight win.

Every basketball season has it's fair share of surprises. For the SU Men's Basketball team one of those pleasant surprises came in the from of Freshman Marek Dolezaj. This week on The Best of WAER Sports Podcast Zach Parnes shares with us the journey of the forward from Bratislava.

Also this week, with just a few games left the tournament fate of SU Men's Basketball is still undecided.  WAER's Maura Sheridan looks at the road ahead  and what the team can do to extend their season.

This week on The Best of WAER Sports Podcast if you're looking for parity, you'll find it in College Lacrosse. With the NCAA Tournament underway many are wondering who will come out on top.

With seven different teams holding the #1 ranking this year, that is very much still up for debate. This week WAER's Tyler Aki takes a look at this year's loaded NCAA Tournament field.
