Rare Conservative Party Primary in Race for Onondaga County Sheriff

For the first time in years, the 4,739 enrolled members of Onondaga County’s Conservative Party will have a primary election.  Committee members have endorsed Democratic candidate for sheriff Toby Shelley to run on the Conservative Party line.   Party Chair Chuck Mancabelli says both Shelley and Republican Party candidate Gene Conway were vetted through resumes and interviews, and Shelley came out on top.  

Shelley might be the Conservative Party’s endorsed candidate, but petitions submitted in the race have opened the ballot for a write-in.

Onondaga County Sheriff Kevin Walsh Makes Career Announcement

Onondaga County's longest running Sheriff Kevin Walsh announces his future intentions.

Another missing piece to the puzzle of who’s running for Onondaga County Sheriff this year became clearer today. Sheriff Kevin Walsh’s longstanding career for the county’s top law enforcement job has spanned 20 years and he was also on the force for another 20 years prior. Walsh threw a bit of a curveball when he first said that he wasn’t retiring and discussed his many teaching jobs in law enforcement that he intends to continue.  However, what about his current job?
