ATLANTA, GA - Syracuse (3-4, 1-2) was throttled 56-0 to Georgia Tech (4-3, 3-2) at Bobby Dodd Stadium in Atlanta on Saturday. The Orange offense struggled to get off the ground, amassing just 75 total rushing yards and 133 passing yards. "Too many penalties today," coach Shafer said, in reference to his team's nine infractions for 91 yards. "We need to mature quickly as a team, but it starts with me."

Syracuse (1-2) throttled Wagner 54-0 in the Dome Opener on Saturday. It’s the first win of the Scott Shafer era, but he wasn’t focused on that.

“I didn’t think about my first win too much until they dumped the Gatorade on me,” Shafer said, with a chuckle. “But it feels great.”

The big story of the day revolved around, what else, the quarterbacks. Senior transfer Drew Allen started the game, but was yanked after he mustered just three points on three drives.
