Wanted: 40 Homes and Businesses to Solarize Syracuse

Syracuse and some nearby town residents of Dewitt, Manlius and Onondaga have the opportunity to grab some buying power for solar panel installations at their homes or businesses.  The new initiative 'Solarize Syracuse' is looking for 40 participants to get the panels installed now through September 30th. Jessica Azulay says a local company will handle the installations.

Calling Attention to Climate Change for Earth Day

 Central New Yorkers might see some new billboards and other messages next week urging people to think of the consequences of climate change and to do something about it.   Local organization Greening USA is launching an advocacy campaign on Earth Day to raise awareness about the impact of climate change.   Advocacy Committee Chair Peter Wirth says climate change is  more serious than most people think.

Community Beautification Project Enjoys 11th year Growing Far out of Westcott Area

Residents picked up free flowering bulbs as part of the Westcott Bulb project this weekend.

Community volunteers gathered at the Westcott Community Center this weekend to continue a special project that's grown to other neighborhoods. 

The Westcott Bulb Project provides thousands of the bulbs every year as part of a beautification effort that also builds community between neighbors. This year, the group gave away “thirty-six hundred” bulbs.

Project Founder Peter Wirth says that since its start in 2003, the project has become much more than a way to brighten up gardens at the end of the winter.
