Football season is over for the Syracuse Orange (4-8, 2-6), and it ends on the lowest of lows: suffering a 42-14 beatdown at the hands of Boston College (7-5, 4-4).

The first possession of the game was an Orange 3 and out. The second possession was a 73 yard drive for the Eagles, capped off by a touchdown run from running back AJ Dillon. The freshman finished the day with 193 yards on the ground, more than half of Boston College's 333 rushing yards.

Syracuse University Football averages a robust 32 points per game. That ranks 32nd in all of Division One College Football.  While Quarterback Eric Dungy  receives a healthy share of the credit, it would be foolish to pretend that he has done it all alone.

This week on The Best of WAER Sports Podcast, Jack Patel spotlights the two senior Wide Receivers who make the offense go.

Syracuse football (2-1, 0-0) faces a tough task tomorrow night in Baton Rouge. The Orange takes on #25  LSU (2-1, 0-1) in the first road game of the season for Cuse.

SU is looking to build off of a dominant win over Central Michigan (2-1,0-0) last week.  The Orange had 300 yards on the ground in the 41-17 victory.

Eric Dungey once again led the team in rushing. He has done so in all three games this season. The Junior also added on 279 yards through the air against the Chippewas.

It’s easy for a young team to take a team without a conference win lightly, especially after a landmark win against a top 25 school. Some would call Saturday’s matchup against Boston College (3-4, 0-4 ACC) a trap game.

The Syracuse Orange (4-4, 2-2 ACC) put up over 500 yards of total offense, turned the ball over three times, and committed sixteen penalties on Saturday against the Eagles. Okay, that’s typical. Sounds like most weeks. The difference this week? The defense stepped up. The only trap today was the one that BC tried to throw into all day, the Syracuse secondary.

As time expired, Cole Murphy's 35-yard field goal attempt sailed through the uprights, clinching a 20-17 victory for Syracuse over Boston College at the Carrier Dome on Saturday. The Orange stormed the field, but head coach Scott Shafer -- coaching his final game at Syracuse -- stood on the sideline and didn't move for a moment.

NC State 42, Syracuse 29: Orange Drop Eighth Straight

Nov 21, 2015

Syracuse suffered an eighth consecutive loss on Saturday, falling 42-29 to the NC State Wolfpack at Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh, North Carolina. The loss means Syracuse will end the season without a win away from the Carrier Dome, as the Orange are now 0-5 on the road.

Syracuse Falls at Virginia, 44-38 in Triple Overtime

Oct 17, 2015

Syracuse suffered another loss on Saturday, falling 44-38 in triple overtime to the Virginia Cavaliers at Scott Stadium in Charlottesville.

The Orange fall to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in conference play with the loss. In the end, Syracuse's defense simply couldn't pull out enough stops, wasting a strong performance from freshman quarterback Eric Dungey. Dungey went 16-of-22 for 150 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. He also ran the ball 18 times for 85 yards and a score.
