The Syracuse Orange (2-0, 0-0) enters its third game of the season at home against the Texas Southern Tigers (0-3, 0-0) in a prime time matchup under the lights of the Carrier Dome.

Arguably the most impressive aspect of the Orange season thus far has been its defense. Through two games, SU has allowed just 53.5 points per game, good for t-16 in all of Division I college basketball. Syracuse has been able to make opponents shots difficult both in the paint and behind the arc, with 'Cuse ranking in the top 40 in both blocks and three-point field goal defense in the nation.

After a dominant second half against Cornell, the Syracuse Orange look to build momentum off of their season-opening win when they face off against the Iona Gaels in the Carrier Dome, Tuesday night at 7. Syracuse was anchored by a strong defense in the opener, and star sophomore Tyus Battle was able to pour in 18 points to lead an inexperienced Orange team over overmatched Cornell.

Home is where the heart is. For the Syracuse football team, this statement continues to ring true. The Orange (4-5, 2-3) has yet to win a road game this year, after losing 27-24 to Florida State (3-5, 3-4) today. Cole Murphy's potential game-tying field goal from 43 yards missed wide left. Syracuse head coach Dino Babers had a solid performance from quarterback Eric Dungey, but that was not enough to earn the victory.

One year after finishing with a  4-8 record, Syracuse Football is poised to improve. Standing in the way of that improvement is the toughest schedule in the NCAA. Head coach Dino Babers, Quarterback Eric Dungey and Linebacker Zaire Franklin spoke in Charlotte today at the 2017 ACC Football Kickoff.

It took only a couple of questions before Zaire Franklin was reminded of the 2016 season finale. Back in November, Syracuse gave up 76 points en route to its eighth loss of the season. Franklin can’t wait to get that game out of his system.
