Syracuse Convention and Visitors Bureau

  Just like a new car, a fast food chain, or other consumer product, Syracuse needs to market itself.  Today the Convention and Visitors Bureau, also called Visit Syracuse, launched a new way to try and get people to come.  The hope is to attract tourists, businesses, and conventions.

Most places try and tell potential visitors the assets of their regions…which Visit Syracuse Director David Holder says needed to be fine-tuned.

For the past few days, the New York State Urban Council hosted its annual Conference for a look into Syracuse’s Community programs and how new businesses revitalize Urban cities.  The first day led out of town guests on a guided tour through Syracuse. They are city planners and economic developers from all across the State.  Executive Director, Adria Finch gives us a glimpse of what they saw.

Syracuse-area tourism officials say the proposed Destiny USA hotel is a great step for generating interest and economic growth in the area.   Destiny officials sent a letter to the county executive and mayor expressing their intentions to build a $75 million, 252-room hotel as part of their master plan.  Convention and Visitors Bureau President David Holder says Destiny as a destination appears to be coming to fruition, and there are still untapped markets.   He says the area is ready for another hotel.
