Syracuse University is investing $118 million dollars to replace the existing Carrier Dome roof and other upgrades that should be ready by Football season 2020 and provide a stadium-like experience.  Over the weekend the University’s Board of Trustees signed-off on the plan to install the suspended roof and updates inside.  Athletic Director John Wildhack says the focus is on students and the fan experience.

To be successful in College Football it's important that you have a strong recruiting presence. That requires that you are able to find and attract top high school talent from different parts of the country.

This week on The Best of WAER Sports Podcast, Dana Gray reports that you might just be surprised at what state has brought SU Football the majority of it's recent talent.

You'll most likely never pick up the latest version of the Madden video game and see a kicker on the cover. But they are still a vital part of a successful football team, college or professional.

This week on The Best of WAER Sports Podcast, Sean Salisbury looks at the positive and negative of kicking for a major college football team. Plus, an inside look at Syracuse University's Senior Kick Cole Murphy.

One year after finishing with a  4-8 record, Syracuse Football is poised to improve. Standing in the way of that improvement is the toughest schedule in the NCAA. Head coach Dino Babers, Quarterback Eric Dungey and Linebacker Zaire Franklin spoke in Charlotte today at the 2017 ACC Football Kickoff.

It took only a couple of questions before Zaire Franklin was reminded of the 2016 season finale. Back in November, Syracuse gave up 76 points en route to its eighth loss of the season. Franklin can’t wait to get that game out of his system.

Syracuse University introduced its next head coach today.  The news broke Saturday that Dino Babers would take over the football program.  Monday morning he told reporters and others from the SU athletic staff that he can win with the talent in the program.

“Most college football teams have enough guys that you can win it’s whether they’re unselfish enough to move to spots where you can win.”

Babers says the players on the team simply have to be unselfish and more about team success.

Terrel Hunt yearned to get back onto the field to redeem himself, since last time out he got ejected from Syracuse's 27-26 double-overtime win over Villanova.  After having to wait two full weeks, Hunt finally gets his opportunity on Saturday as the Orange (1-0) takes on the Central Michigan Chippewas (2-0) in Mount Pleasant.

“I’m itching a lot to get out there,” Hunt said Wednesday.
