Human Side of War in Iraq Focus of New Book by Veteran at CNY Vets Center

Clear Path for Veterans in Chittenango is designed to be a comfortable place where veterans can gather or receive services.

  It took Iraq War veteran John Ready of Oneida almost ten years to write about the experiences he went through as part of a civil affairs unit.  But he decided to chronicle the strange, sometimes funny and poignant happenings and thoughts in his book, "Does My Suicide Vest Make Me Look Fat?: A Soldier's Year in Iraq."

Central New York Remembers and Honors its Veterans

Veterans and their families gathered at the War Memorial Tuesday for a celebration and honoring of their service. Carol Anne Wood is the grandmother of a woman currently serving in the U-S Army.  She would write poems for her granddaughter and the platoon, and quickly became known as the platoon grandmother.

Unfortunately not all service members are able to return to their families and communities. A special table was set up to honor those Missing in Action or who are Prisoners of War.

Walls Raised in Newest Habitat for Humanity Build

Construction began today on a brand new home for Scott Brennen, a disabled veteran of the United States Army who will live in the third Veteran's Home built by Syracuse Habitat for Humanity.  The process of raising the walls began Thursday, with an ultimate goal of completing the home in time for  Christmas. 


Brennen returned from service to a paycheck that was too small to support his family. He explained the process that led him to seek aid from Habitat for Humanity:
