Syracuse Travels To Northwestern for Week 2

Evanston, Ill. - Everybody remembers last season’s heartbreaking loss in the Carrier Dome to Northwestern to start the year. The orange stormed back from 22-point deficit to take the lead with just over two minutes to go in the game and ultimately lost on a Northwestern final drive making the score 42-41 Wildcats. The two teams face off again this Saturday and this time it is in Evanston.

Syracuse Loses Season Opener 23-17

East Rutherford, NJ - Syracuse (0-1) fell 23-17 to Penn State (1-0) in its first game in the Scott Shafer era.

The first year coach said, “I liked the way the kids competed.”

Senior Drew Allen was the man under center for the orange. The Oklahoma transfer finished the game 17 for 38 with 189 yards and two interceptions.

SU Football Nine Days Away From Opener

Preseason camp is winding down for Syracuse Football. The Orange has already shifted the attention to its season opener against Penn State. Head coach Scott Shafer and the Orange are following a script to be ready for the August 31 game at MetLife Stadium. Veteran sports broadcaster Ian Eagle '90 was inducted into the WAER Hall of Fame on Friday August 16, 2013 at the Joseph I Lubin House in Manhattan, NY.

Eagle is most notably known as the lead play-by-play announcer for the Brooklyn Nets on the YES network for the past 18 seasons.  His work on YES earned him a New York Emmy for play-by-play earlier this year.  In addition to his Nets duties, Eagle also broadcasts NFL football, NCAA basketball and Tennis for CBS Sports.

Syracuse Officially in ACC

It was a great day in New York City as Syracuse, Pittsburgh, and Notre Dame officially become members of the ACC on Wednesday. And the theme of the day was excitement for the future. “We’re in a great position for the short term and the long term.” Said ACC commissioner John Swofford. “We have a great group of 15 institutions with unlimited potential for the future.”

Carter-Williams Drafted by 76ers

  Michael Carter-Williams, who helped Syracuse reach the Final Four this past season, was selected 11th overall in the 2013 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers.

Carter-Williams started all 40 games as a sophomore with the Orange and was part of a squad that finished the season 30-10 overall. Syracuse reached the NCAA semifinals before having its season ended by eventual national runnerup Michigan.

And with the number 11 pick in the draft, the Philadelphia 76ers choose... Michael Carter-Williams, point guard  from Syracuse!  For the former Orange point guard, the Philly selection is a bit of a reunion as he reunites with BABC teammate Nerlens Noel, who was dealt to the 76ers after being drafted by the New Orleans Pelicans at pick number 6.  Carter-Williams said, "I'm really excited.  Me and Nerlens grew up together.  We're best friends.  It's like a dream come true."

Syracuse Lax Falls in National Championship

Despite a 5-0 lead early on, the 2013 season ended in disappointment for the Syracuse Orange. Duke defeated SU in the National Championship game at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia 16-10. It is the 2nd National Championship in program history for the Blue Devils.

The loss was SU's first in a national championship game since 2001, ending a string of four straight national-title game victories for the Orange.

SU Lacrosse Advances to Title Game

Despite trailing for the seemingly the entire game, the top-seeded Syracuse lacrosse team came back from behind to defeat #4 Denver 9-8 in the Final Four to advance to its 17th National Championship game in school history. The Orange now takes on seventh-seeded Duke on Memorial Day Monday at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia at 1 PM.

 Derek Maltz scored the game winning goal with 19.2 seconds left to seal it for the 'Cuse. Malt's goal capped a furious rally that saw the Orange tally five of the game's last six goals to overcome a 7-4 deficit entering the fourth quarter.

SU LAX takes on Denver in Final Four

The top-seeded Orange continues its quest for its 12th NCAA championship on Saturday, May 25 when it meets No. 4 seed Denver at Lincoln Financial Field in the national semifinals. The game marks the first NCAA postseason meeting between the two schools.

Syracuse advanced to the semifinal round for the 27th time in school history with a 7-6 come-from-behind victory versus Yale in the quarterfinals. Denver marched on with a 12-11 triumph over No. 5 seed North Carolina. The other national semifinal features Duke versus Cornell at 2:30 p.m.
